Archbishop's Message
Message for the Department of Catechesis
Jesus Christ, on the completion of His earthly life and
before ascending into heaven, commanded His disciples to “Go
into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to every
creature” (Mark 16:15). This divine mandate continues
through the life and mission of the Church today.
The Department of Catechesis of the Archeparchy of Kalyan joyfully
takes up this sacred responsibility — to form, nurture, and strengthen
the faith of our people, especially our children and youth. The
term “catechesis” comes from the Greek word “katechein”, meaning
“to echo or to resound”. It signifies the beautiful mission of
echoing the Word of God in hearts and homes, helping every believer
to know, love, and follow Jesus more deeply.
Our Catechetical ministry strives to continue the mission entrusted
by Christ by fostering a living faith through systematic teaching,
spiritual formation, and active witness. The dedicated efforts
of our priests, catechism teachers, and parents play a vital
role in this journey of faith.
I express my heartfelt appreciation to all priests, catechism
teachers, and parents who tirelessly work to pass on the light
of faith to the younger generation. Parents, especially, are
the first and most influential catechists of their children —
through your example, prayer, and daily life, you can do much
to form Christ in their hearts.
May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen all involved
in the catechetical mission, so that our Archeparchy may continue
to grow in faith, hope, and love, fulfilling the Lord's command
in our time.
